The 1st step is to "Learn About It". When my wife told me she had menopause, I had zero understanding of what she was going through. In fact, I told her to take some paracetamol and she’d be better in a few weeks. That resulted in her storming off, saying I was ignorant. 😬


Yep, I was ignorant. No one had ever told me that my wife would face changes when she was older. My knowledge of menopause was minimal. But then I started to research menopause, and I was shocked to find out what women go through.


You don’t need a medical degree, but knowing the basics can help you understand what she’s going through. Knowledge is power, mate. 💡



 

Listen Without Trying to Fix It

Look, I know we’re hardwired to solve problems, but this isn’t about fixing—it’s about listening. Sometimes she just needs to vent, not hear your solutions. 🗣️



Don’t Take It Personally

Mood swings? Irritability? It’s not about you (OK, sometimes it is 😉). It’s the hormones talking. Keep reminding yourself of that. 🧠



Be Patient

She’s not herself right now, but she’s still the person you love. 💖Give her space to figure things out, and be there when she’s ready to talk.



Help Out Without Being Asked

Whether it’s cooking dinner, picking up the kids, or just tidying up, stepping up without being asked will score you major points. 💯



Keep Your Sense of Humour

When the moment’s right, a bit of humour can go a long way. 😄Just make sure you’re reading the room before cracking a joke.



Support Her Choices

Whether it’s HRT, herbal remedies, or just gritting her teeth and pushing through, respect her decisions.



Prioritise Quality Time

Date nights, a walk together, or even a cuppa in the garden—it’s about staying connected through the chaos. ☕👣



Be Honest About Your Needs

It’s okay to talk about how you’re feeling too. A strong relationship is built on mutual understanding. 🤝



Show Her You Still Love Her

Compliment her. Hold her hand. 💕Let her know she’s still the love of your life, even if she doesn’t feel like herself.



The Bedroom Situation

Now, let’s talk about the thing no one likes to talk about—sex. Menopause can mess with her libido and make intimacy tricky. Here’s the key: don’t push, but don’t give up either. Focus on intimacy rather than intercourse. A massage, a cuddle, or just holding hands can mean a lot right now. 🛋️💆‍♀️


And if she’s up for it but things are, well, a bit uncomfortable, a good quality lubricant can work wonders. Keep it low-pressure and about connection, not performance. 💧
