Supporting Women with Visible & Non-Visible Disabilities
Visible Disabilities
Many women experiencing menopause also face mobility challenges, using wheelchairs, crutches, prosthetics, or walkers. Others may be affected by conditions such as:
Cerebral Palsy l Down Syndrome l Parkinson’s Disease
Stroke-related impairments (partial paralysis, facial drooping, difficulty walking)
Blindness or severe vision impairment
Hearing impairments
Hearing & Vision Impairments
It’s important to recognize that not all hearing or vision impairments are immediately visible. Some menopausal women may:
Experience hearing loss but rely on hearing aids or lip reading, making their condition less obvious.
Have vision impairments but not use white canes or guide dogs, yet still struggle with daily visual challenges.
Non-Visible Disabilities
For many women, disabilities are not always seen but can still be debilitating. These include:
Chronic illnesses such as Diabetes, Fibromyalgia, Arthritis, and Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
Neurological & Cognitive Conditions including Autism (ASD), ADHD, and Dyslexia
Mental Health Disorders such as Anxiety, Depression, and PTSD
Autoimmune & Internal Conditions
Some menopausal women also face autoimmune diseases and internal conditions that can severely impact their daily lives, such as:
Lupus, Crohn’s disease, or Celiac disease – Causing pain, fatigue, and digestive issues.
POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) – Leading to dizziness and fainting, making everyday tasks unpredictable.
